Tree Stump Remover
This letter was submitted to BC Gerolamy by our customer, Danny Duarte at Double D, as a testimonial to what you can do to a Screaming Eagle Road Glide.

What do you call a motor with extreme torque or pulling power? The "Tree Stump Remover" is a bike with the ability to go from 65 to 130 in the time it takes to pass a truck. It has all the comfort of a touring bike, which turns into a race bike when you crack the throttle.

Six months ago, Gary Alexander from Stockton, California, approached me with a challenge. He asked me to turn his 2001 Screaming Eagle Road Glide into a Torque Monster. Horsepower was of no importance. He wanted BRUTE FORCE TORQUE. Everybody knows this is where you feel it in the seat of your pants. He wanted to fly around trucks on a 7% grade without slowing down. Although he had a 95 cubic inch motor, with a passenger and bags, his 2001 Screaming Eagle Road Glide didn't have the power to do this. He did not want a high compression motor because it would be difficult to start and have less reliability. He wanted the power at cruising speed RPMs, 3500-4500 RPM. He didn't want to have to down shift for power. He wanted a reliable motorcycle with a lot more power, particularly when cruising in the mountains to Reno and Tahoe, where you start in California at sea level and cruise through mountain passes at elevations over 8,500 feet.

This presented a challenge because the customer also wanted to maintain the stock engine look. He also wanted to use the stock heads and the existing Magnetti Morelli fuel injection system. After contacting various high performance engine suppliers, the engineers said it was impossible to build. Yet, with the help of Barry from BC Gerolamy, I designed this Torque Monster. I contacted Power Commander about their Power Commander 3R, and they assured me that a map could be written for what I had in mind. They gave me some guidelines and I designed the compression ratios and cam specifications needed to bring this Monster to life.

Specifications of the Torque Monster:
Thunder Header slip-on exhaust system
S&S 116 cubic inch flywheel, piston and cylinder kit
Intake body modified from 38 to 42mm
Port and flow stock heads with bigger valves (BC's WA3 High Torque Package)
Compression ratio 10.4:1
Compression release installed on the heads
Woods TW8G cams with gear drive
Upgraded Harley map cartridge
Screaming Eagle air box
Performance hydraulic lifters
Reduced motor sprocket by 3 teeth
HD Race performance clutch with total spring force set at 495
Power Commander 3R with custom map
Jims throttle body spacers
Crank cases modified by S&S
Rocker boxes clearanced by BC Gerolamy
Engine built by Double D Custom
White Brothers Easy Clutch
Gas tank modified to accept taller engine

Although they said it couldn't be done, my goal was to build a motor with 130 foot pounds of torque. After final Dyno tuning, it reached 128.1 foot pounds of torque - plenty of power to justify the name "Tree Stump Puller". When Gary picked up his bike, he had a huge grin on his face. His joyful enthusiasm after his first test ride cannot be accurately described. The simple word "Thanks" conveyed all the meaning in the world.

Now Gary's problem is that his three other bikes (2003 Fatboy, 2001 FXDWG2 and a 2001 V-Rod) all need work so they can keep up with his one-of-a-kind Tree Stump Puller Bagger!
